70 YEARS A MASON!

70 YEARS A MASON!

Certificate Presentation for 70 years as a Freemason

W Bros. Kent and Llewellyn paid a visit to W Bro David Kendall at his residence in Headingley, where they presented him with a framed Certificate commemorating 70 years as a Freemason.

W Bro Kendall was initiated into Walpole Lodge in Norwich in February 1956 as a ‘Lewis’ (his father introduced him to the Lodge). His profession as a Commercial Mortgage broker led him to Leeds, where he joined St Michael’s Lodge No. 4353, ultimately serving as W Master in 1987. A notable event during his tenure was a Lodge visit to his mother Lodge in Norwich, which was graciously funded by David.

In 2016, he was awarded a 60-year certificate and has held the status of Honorary member for many years.
At the age of 96, David is somewhat frail, and his memory can be inconsistent at times; however, he remains in good spirits and expressed his best wishes for the Lodge’s future.

Meals

After every Regular Meeting we have a 3 course meal with tea or coffee – we have bar where you can enjoy soft and alcohol. Regarding what social activities do Freemasons engage in, meals are a key part of enjoying fellowship together. Every so often, we go out together with our partners for a Sunday meal. Additionally, the partners of our Brethren get together sometimes for what we call a “Ladies after” meal. Finally, we have a “Ladies who lunch” social gathering. Clearly, what social activities do Freemasons engage in includes these enjoyable meal events.

See our “Latest” page for updates on a list of Social Functions that have been organised so far.

Golf

Arts

There is also a West Yorkshire Province Art Society which can be joined for a nominal fee. To answer what social activities do Freemasons engage in, arts and cultural events are certainly important. Here is a sample of some of the Arts from one of our Brethren. View our Arts page…
